FAQs

  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that provides support to eligible Australians with permanent and significant disabilities. It aims to help people achieve their goals, increase independence, and participate fully in the community.

  • To be eligible, you must:
        •    Be under 65 years of age when you apply
        •    Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
        •    Have a permanent and significant disability that affects your daily living
You can check your eligibility on the official NDIS website or speak to a Local Area Coordinator.

  • The NDIS funds a wide range of supports, including:
        •    Daily personal activities
        •    Transport to community or work participation
        •    Therapeutic supports (e.g. occupational therapy, physiotherapy)
        •    Supported Independent Living (SIL)
        •    Assistive technology
        •    Home modifications
        •    Support coordination

(Note: The NDIS doesn’t fund general living expenses like rent or groceries.)

  • You can apply by:
        •    Calling the NDIS on 1800 800 110
        •    Filling out an Access Request Form
        •    Working with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Early Childhood Partner (for children under 9)

  • LACs help participants access the NDIS, create plans, and connect with community services. They also support people without NDIS plans to access mainstream services.

  • A Support Coordinator helps you understand and use your NDIS plan, connect with providers, and build your capacity to manage supports independently.

  • Yes! One of the key features of the NDIS is choice and control. You can choose who delivers your services and how they’re provided.

  • If your plan is NDIA-managed, you must use NDIS-registered providers. If your plan is plan-managed or self-managed, you can use non-registered providers too.

  • Plans are usually reviewed every 12 months, but you can request a review sooner if your circumstances change.

  • You have the right to change providers at any time. If you have concerns, you can also contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to make a complaint or report unsafe practices.

  • No, the NDIS is not income-tested. Your eligibility and funding are based on your disability support needs, not your income or assets.

  • We support NDIS participants by delivering [insert your services here, e.g. daily support, accommodation, therapy, plan management]. We tailor every service to your goals and needs, helping you get the most out of your NDIS plan.
